Rico's Cafe

2/18/2016

Our group was to meet at 6:30pm at Rico's Cafe.  A few of us had the same idea and came early so we could browse through the toy store and book store.  I arrived around 5:30pm and though parking was full in front of the stores on Tejon I quickly managed to secure a spot just around the corner.  For people who don't frequent downtown businesses much, parking meters tend to intimidate. Have no fear, there is no cost to park in the metered spots after 6:00pm, and it only took fifty cents to cover me until then.  I entered the bookstore first which is on the south end of the building.  From inside there you can walk into Rico's Cafe, then on into the Toy Store, and then into Poor Richard's Restaurant.  It's great having everything under one roof.   A band began playing some great sounding jazz music at 7:00pm inside Rico's Cafe that would last until 9:00pm.  They often have live music and you can confirm the days and times on their website.  It was crowded but we managed to find seats and look over the menu.  You place your order at  either the cafe or the restaurant counter without having to do it separately. They will assign you a number to place on your table and then deliver it to your table.  They have a cozy looking patio that will be nice to enjoy on warmer days and evenings. They have some great healthy options on the menu.  Our gang had everything from pizza and salad to old fashioned chocolate shakes.  I had the Turkey Avocado sandwich with pepper jack cheese served with tortilla chips and it was great.  It was a very enjoyable evening with friends.  Put Poor Richard's on your list of places to visit soon.  A Colorado Springs landmark since the 70s.  You won't be disappointed!
