1858 Restaurant at Seven Falls

1/1/2016

If you're planning to visit Seven Falls, you'll want to know that you must now park in a lot on 1st Street across from the Golden Bee Pub.  That's just one block east of the Broadmoor Hotel, and parking is free. Shuttle service is provided to and from the falls and is also free.  We made reservations for 6:30 pm at the new 1858 Restaurant located at the base of the falls.  It took us about an hour from the time we parked and waited for a shuttle van to drop us off at the ticket office. Entrance fees for Seven Falls are $14 for adults and $8 for ages 2-12.  We arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes early, so we made our way to the falls for a quick look.  The falls were lit and frozen just the way I remembered them from previous visits years before. The rockers on the patio below are a nice touch if you want to have a comfy seat while others in your party climb the 224 stairs to the top. We started to climb the stairs but quickly turned back because the railings were too cold to hold onto without gloves. You can also view the falls from a platform accessible by elevator. You'll definitely want to be prepared for cold winter nights there in the canyon by dressing warm.  The warm and friendly staff of the 1858 greeted us at the door and seated us right away.  The restaurant seats 100 and features a classy but rustic decor.  For starters I chose the Roasted Tomato Tortilla Soup ($7).  It was quite spicy, but I was well informed beforehand by our awesome waiter.  Jaton chose the Broadmoor Farm Salad ($8) which was beautifully prepared with an array of colorful veggies and fresh greens. The complimentary rolls and jalapeno corn bread were a nice addition.  For entrees we both selected the popular Longmont 8oz Bison Burger ($18).  It comes with fries or cole slaw. Everything was great and we definitely plan to return.  One thing to keep in mind though, you do have to purchase a ticket to Seven Falls and ride the shuttle to eat here.   Plan on making a day or evening out of it by bringing friends or relatives visiting from out of town. Reservations are recommended.  For additional info call (855) 923-7272.
