Today I met with a local businessman for lunch at the Heart Of Jerusalem Cafe at Centennial and Fillmore, the newest of three Colorado Springs locations owned and operated by the Abukhdeir family, serving fine Middle Eastern Cuisine since 2007. The Ultimate Platter was delicious, and included Beef, Lamb, and Chicken marinated in authentic spices imported from Jerusalem served on a bed of lettuce. The platter ($10) also included grilled Za'atar Pita Bread, Hummus, Greek Salad, and Gazaziki Sauce. To top off an already great lunch, they offered us a complimentary piece of homemade Baklava, a rich but light pastry made with layers of phyllo dough, filled with chopped walnuts and almonds, sweetened with honey and topped with pistachios. It's by far the best Baklava I've ever tasted!
