Just outside of Dublin, Ireland in the village of Clontarf, we discovered Hemmingway's, an awesome place for dinner. We ate there on two occasions during our visit to the area, and were equally impressed each time with the service as well as the taste and preparation. Everything was "Spot on!". The village is just a short walk (or Taxi ride) from the Clontarf Castle Hotel, and we found everything we needed there during our stay. A gorgeous afternoon for a bun-less burger and delicious side of Brussels sprouts on the patio near the River Walk in downtown Pueblo. There is a second location on Tejon Street in Colorado Springs. When I'm requested to bring a dessert to a social gathering, I like to bring the very best. This delicious and refreshing fruit tart from Marigold Cafe & Bakery was quite the hit! Fargos was a must stop for my dad when we traveled to Colorado Springs to visit my sister, and the tradition has continued three additional generations. As promised, my order number “magically” appeared in the mirror, letting me know my order was ready. The first Panino's opened in 1974, and the Frasca family has continued to perfect the Panino sandwich and a variety of delicious Italian entrees. San Diego, California While visiting Little Italy in San Diego we had an awesome meal at the original Filippi's Pizza Grotto. What a great pizza, followed up with an absolutely delightful Cannoli! It's apparent the locals love this place as well. Even with plenty of seating the restaurant was packed with an estimated 20 minute wait, which turned out to be only about five minutes. Rosie was an excellent server and seems to have a great rapport with the guests. We've been coming here for years and it remains consistently wonderful. Since 1958, this family business has been "dishing out" fresh and delicious Italian meals in a cozy, comfortable atmosphere, complete with authentic Italian music (played at just the right volume). The friendly, welcoming staff found me a table, though a reservation is probably a good idea. Free parking is another plus. Oh, and as for the "holiday", I didn't feel even a sliver of guilt ordering a slice of chocolate cake to celebrate Fat Tuesday! Luigis' Italian Restaurant 947 S. Tejon St. Colorado Springs, CO 80903 719-632-7339 Lunch with a couple of my Pueblo friends found us at Ianne's Pizzeria, a "longtime family-run pizzeria doling out pies, pasta, burgers & fried chicken since 1954". Our sausage grinders were awesome, as were the fries and onion rings. That evening I returned to Ianne's to pick up my jacket, which I "accidentally" left there at lunchtime. I decided since I was there, I may as well try a pizza for dinner, which was equally awesome! A couple of co-workers in the Springs had told me about this place, so I was determined to give them a visit. It was exactly as they had described. What an awesome lunch at Pass Key Restaurant today. Thanks to Matt Meister and the FOX21 team's special series "We Are Pueblo", which aired on Channel 21 in Colorado Springs, we discovered the Pagano family's awesome restaurant on Highway 50. It has been a Pueblo tradition since 1952. The Pass Key Special is a delicious Italian Sausage sandwich, sure to tantalize your taste buds to the last bite!
