Always delicious, and always served up with a smile. This time I had my skirted burger over a bed of lettuce, which allowed me to walk out of the restaurant in a reasonably upright manner without feeling overly stuffed. Since the fries are too good to pass up, I sacrificed the bun. If there are two of you dining, may I suggest just one order of fries to split. This awesome family-owned and operated business has two Colorado Springs locations, downtown on Tejon Street and northeast at Dublin & Powers.

Pizza Time 8794 N Union Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO 80920 719-282-4177 We always enjoy awesome middle eastern cuisine and the best baklava in town at this family-owned restaurant with four Colorado Springs locations. The newest location in Northgate is now open. We found the service was great and the staff welcoming and friendly.
Heart of Jerusalem - Northgate 122 Tracker Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80921 719-685-1325 A little fiesta fare for three amigos at Costa Vida in Northgate. The raspberry chipotle chicken nachos, Baja steak bowl, and chicken tacos all received thumbs up.
Costa Vida 122 Tracker Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80921 719-481-6782 A little afternoon delight on the patio at La Casa Fiesta in Monument. The spicy beef and cheese stacked enchiladas were great and just the right portion for lunch.
La Casa Fiesta 230 Front St. Monument, CO 80132 719-481-1234 In Colorado, when it’s hot, it’s time to get high. That’s exactly what Stella and I did. We headed for the hills. Woodland Park, to be exact. It was about 15 degrees cooler up there, with a nice breeze. We stopped at the Swiss Chalet for lunch. What an awesome Sunday meal with a top-notch crew. When I asked about the “famous” Cobb Salad, the server quickly shared his enthusiasm over the entree. He was right…it was an excellent choice! While I enjoyed the meal and ambience of the restaurant, Stella was outside checkin’ out all the Lotus sports cars (about a dozen) that had gathered in the parking lot. She was a little miffed at me for not stopping by the car wash first. The apple pie à la mode was another great suggestion, and topped off the meal nicely.
Swiss Chalet Restaurant 19263 US-24 Woodland Park, CO 80863 719-687-2001 The drive down Highway 115 (south of Fort Carson) is well worth it, if you're planning on stopping in at the Juniper Valley Ranch for a home-cooked, family-style dinner. The Filet Mignon Madeira was an excellent choice, grilled and wrapped in bacon and served with Madeira wine sauce. It included a side of fried potatoes, grilled vegetables, and fresh dinner rolls. The apple strudel topped off the meal very nicely!
Edelweiss German Restaurant 34 E Ramona Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80905 719-633-2220 Every visit I’m amazed by the locals who regularly fill and patronize this family-owned and operated local business on N. Nevada at Fillmore. Often I overhear them telling the server they don’t need a menu because they already have a favorite picked out. Tonight was no different. I, however, decided to stray from my normal picks to try something different. Amber (always extending a warm welcome) confirmed my selection was a good one, and indeed it was. The marinated, boneless chicken breast baked with artichokes, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese was delicious. I can never resist their tasty House Salad, and the order of garlic bread with cheese absolutely topped off this delightful dinner. Some of our other favorites include the Lasagna and the Pizza. Stop in and get yours Tuesday - Saturday. A line of regulars (sometimes including me) starts forming shortly before the doors even open at 5:00pm.
Roman Villa 3005 N Nevada Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80907 719-635-1806 Fishin’ at Marigold Cafe today. What a catch, and love the cajun sauce (from one who’s not a tarter sauce fan). The fresh bread basket with butter is always a treat. Lauren is awesome and everything is absolutely delicious! We have always found Marigold Cafe a delightful place for lunch or dinner.
