I've been wanting to try Bird Dog BBQ for some time now after hearing about it from a friend. Little did I know I have one (there are several locations in Colorado Springs) right in my own neck of the woods and it's been there for two years now! I found it in an obscure little shopping strip just south of the Ace Hardware on Centennial, but only because someone had told me they were there. The Wednesday special was a spud topped with butter, sour cream, and cheese with your choice of meat. The lady in line behind me quickly helped me make my decision. A regular customer, she was having the same thing and recommended the brisket. She was right and it was great! The potato was tender and moist and the BBQ sauce was spot on delicious. There was no evidence that anything had been on my plate when I was done. The only thing I'd recommend changing is the rather "springy" plastic spork. A stiffer one would be better. The lunch special included a couple of pickle spears and a drink for $8. Bird Dog BBQ has been the Gazette’s choice for “Best BBQ in Colorado Springs” a number of years since 2007. They are locally-owned and operated and the menu is MSG-free and gluten friendly. Follow our BLOG at DiscoverCOS.com.
