Perhaps it's because I'm still "reeling" about the loss of a few restaurants in town or maybe it's just because when I was a kid growing up on the North Coast we regularly ate fish on Fridays. Whatever the reason, I was certainly craving a good old fish fry tonight, and what a great "catch" it was! If you haven't been to Marigold Cafe on Centennial, just north of Garden Of The gods Road, you really should stop in and give them a try. Their fish and chips are "fin-tastic", and they have a lot of other delightful menu items as well. A basket of fresh bread and butter is hard enough to resist, let alone trying to choose a dessert from their two-page dessert menu! Did I mention they have an in-house bakery? I settled on the citrus cheesecake which was absolutely delicious. It's a good thing I was wearing my new "stretchy" belt tonight! Discover more...
It is with great sadness that we report the recent closings of three local restaurants that we've had the pleasure of dining at and blogging about since the launch of our DiscoverCOS.com website in January 2016. The other day we drove by The Dive and found they had closed their doors after 5-1/2 years. Wednesday we stopped by JP Fizzy's for dinner and were so disappointed to find they had also closed, just several months after their grand-opening in April. Then just down the street from there we found the Land Of The Pyramids building empty with no signs saying they had moved to another location. We were unable to reach them by phone to confirm. As anyone who follows this blog and our social media posts knows, we really do believe in supporting our local businesses and try to encourage others to do the same. When we discover news like this it really hurts our hearts to think these business owners just didn't feel they were able to continue. We hope you'll join us in taking every opportunity to continue supporting our wonderful, locally-owned businesses throughout the area.
Nothing like a tasty Shepherds Pie at our Colorado owned and operated Black-Eyed Pea. The meal comes with soup or salad and a basket of fresh hot dinner rolls and corn bread for just $11. Yum! Discover more...
Now DON’T PANIC people. Stay calm, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. Something eggstaordinary has happened in Colorado Springs. One visit to our local Over Easy locations and it’s easy to think it’s over for Over Easy, and were that true, it would likely put many of us in quite a scramble. We love our popular daytime eatery. If you haven’t already noticed, however, the next time you visit you’ll see the sign now says Urban Egg. Same great owners, they simply wanted to rebrand the Colorado Springs stores to match the Denver stores. So it’s easy...it’s NOT over. Colorado Springs has just officially been urbanized, that’s all.
What a great turnout for the Mike Boyle Lunch Bunch Christmas Toy Drive at Rocco’s Italian Restaurant. Awesome lunch selections were available for just $5.00 during the LIVE broadcast of The Restaurant Show on 1460AM and 101.1FM. Hundreds of toys, gift cards, and donations were received from those who attended to support this great cause.
UPDATE: This restaurant has permanently closed. When I think of toys, the first place that comes to mind is Little Richard’s Toy Store downtown. This place is packed wall to wall with some of the most amazing toy selections I’ve ever seen under one roof. I found this cool John Deere dump truck made out of recycled products, made in the USA, and even cooler, made in Colorado by Begin Again Toys in Fort Collins. The same item is listed today on Amazon for just .95 cents less than what I was able to purchase it right at the store and take home with me. This toy will be donated at tomorrow’s Christmas Toy Drive at Rocco’s Italian Restaurant during the Boyle Lunch Bunch live radio broadcast with Mike Boyle’s The Restaurant Show between 11:00am and 2:00pm. Bring an unwrapped toy for a girl or boy and while you’re there enjoy some great Rocco’s lunch specials for just $5.00 during the show. Hope to see YOU there! Remember to support our awesome local small businesses and help keep our local economy strong! Discover more...

The Shooks Run includes bacon, guacamole, Pepper Jack cheese, tomatoes, greens, and ranch dressing. It’s also available vegan-style. A huge bowl of fresh-cut fries with ketchup and fry sauce was only an additional $3. The building also houses a market stocked with a nice variety of healthy foods, snacks, and drinks, all in a warm and inviting setting with a friendly staff quick to answer any questions and help you with your order.
UPDATE: Permanently closed. 749 E. Willamette Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903 719.419.7920 We weren't seeing red or feeling blue...just felt like having some "dElectable" Mexican cuisine after stopping by to place our vote. The real winner of the night was the Enchiladas Suizas. Absolutely fantastic! We then “elected” to have dessert and the Churros and ice cream got our vote. Thank you Donis, Maria, and Carlos for an evening to remember! We give you two thumbs up! Discover more...
