Today I was walking down Colorado Avenue and was intrigued (as were others) by the awesome aroma emitting from the doorway of this quaint little shop. Inside I met Sylvana who welcomed everyone with a warm smile. The shop is full of products including face and body lotions, oils, herbs, soaps, books, and flower remedies to help with emotional issues connected to physical conditions. You'll discover some great, locally-made Christmas gift ideas here.
After a mid-afternoon of exploring the shops along Colorado Avenue, I strolled into Jorge's Mexican Restaurant for lunch. My server, Cliff, suggested the beef tacos and they were awesome. The three warm, deep-fried corn taco shells (Mmmm!) were packed with seasoned ground beef, ripe tomatoes, lettuce, and shredded cheese. They had just made a fresh batch of taco sauce that really topped off the meal nicely! The combo included rice for just $8. Service was excellent and the dining room was clean, bright and cheerful. Parking is free if you park in the lot located in the alley directly behind the restaurant.
For over 50 years, The Iron Springs Chateau Melodrama Dinner Theater has provided the Pike's Peak region with evenings of hilarious comedy and quality entertainment. This night was my first and proved to be a very enjoyable experience. The pot roast was a great choice. It was fork tender and very tasty, along with the potatoes, gravy, and other sides. Dinner also included a side salad, roll, and dessert. Seconds were offered but the portions were very generous the first time around. A very talented cast put on a terrific, fun-filled, family-friendly show. Each member seemed to genuinely enjoy performing, and the audience was very enthusiastic as well. This was one of the last performances of "Mary's Peril". A holiday show begins November 18th. This is a great way to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions with family and friends and is enjoyable for people of all ages.
It was a gorgeous fall day to enjoy breakfast on the patio at Bon Ton's Cafe in Old Colorado City. The Meat Lover's Skillet is a great choice and very filling. You'll find a nice variety of both breakfast and lunch items on the menu. The cafe is open daily till 3:00pm.
